Choosing a diamond: Diamond settings

The setting, or mounting, for a diamond plays a role in how the diamond looks on a woman’s hand. For example, a heavier, more elaborate setting may not look very graceful on a smaller hand.

Certain settings also enhance the beauty of a particular shape of diamond better than others. It can often help to try several different diamond settings before deciding which one you think looks best, as the one that looks best in the jewelry store window or display case may not look as appealing on the hand of the intended person.

And while fashions change, you may want a diamond with classic appeal for years to come.
